Infection Control Large R

Infection Control Equipment

There are approximately 165,000 HAIs occurring each year in Australia.

Healthcare acquired infections (HAIs) are defined as an infection acquired in hospital by a patient who was admitted for another reason. For patients with already weakened immune systems, HAIs can lead to prolonged recovery periods and even death.

Infection Control Equipment

Enforcing best practice in reducing infection.

Keystone Healthcare recognises that HAIs are an increasingly significant problem in hospitals and healthcare facilities, with additional pressure placed on our healthcare system, facility staff and patients.

Keystone recommends enforcing measures for hand sanitisation such as cough etiquette, hand hygiene before and after contact with patients as well as the use of aseptic skin disinfectants.

Keystone Healthcare’s Hygiene Washer is designed to wash and disinfect contaminated medical equipment and is a convenient option for superior infection control.

Hospitals represent a dangerous collection of pathogens under one roof, which is why we believe it is imperative to maintain a vigilant prevention program to curb the risk of infection for patients, hospital staff, and visitors.

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare stresses the importance of reducing harm to people from HAIs through effective control across the two key areas of hand sanitisation and environmental control.

With patients routinely sharing equipment, a regular and rigorous cleaning schedule is an important measure in environmental control to fight disease causing microorganisms.

Education

Leading the way in infection control education.

At Keystone Healthcare, our priority is helping our clients to get the maximum potential from our equipment. By providing education and guidance on the correct use of our products, not only do patients benefit from better outcomes, but the equipment lifespan will be prolonged.

Frequently asked questions.

How do I clean the washer?

The washer has auto self-cleaning after every wash to avoid cross-contamination

How do I dry the washed items?

The Hygiene washer has a built in dryer!

Are there options to rent or purchase the washer?

Yes, Keystone is able to support either the purchase or annual rental model.  In addition we have a machine in our Carrum Downs warehouse and can pick-up, clean and deliver the equipment back to your facility.

Do these products assist with quality accreditation and infection control procedures in a hospital/care facility?

Yes both of the products features can form part of the infection control quality accreditation procedures.  The Hygiene washer can track equipment being cleaned and provide a report to evidence regular cleaning cycle.  The disposable slings have an added feature of a label that will dissolve after 30 seconds if the sling is wet or washed.

Do the slings vary in size?

Yes there are a number of different sizes depending on the patients weight and requirements there are clips and loops depending on the lifters requirements.

Can the slings be washed?

No, they are single use/patient slings and to ensure they are safely used there is an inbuilt safety label that will disintegrate if it is wet.

Every year, a vast number of hospital patients in Australia experience a Healthcare complication in the form of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs).

In 2018, approximately 165,000 HAIs were diagnosed in Australia in both private and public hospitals, deeming HAI’s to be one of the most common complications affecting hospital patients resulting in large increases to morbidity and mortality, as well as exponentially increasing the risk of readmission within 12 months (Citation).

In combination of poor patient outcomes, HAI’s often also results in a prolonged hospital stay that is, on average 18.1 days longer than patients without this hospital-acquired complications. The national average cost per admitted acute overnight stay is $2074. The result of the longer hospital stays involving HAI’s may therefore be associated with $37,539 in extra costs (Citation). Fortunately, HAI’s rates can be significantly decreased by implementing infection control processes and equipment such as Hygiene Washers and one time use Zlincher Slings.
